Sleeping Beauty
The different stories of “Sleeping Beauty” shapes society’s views towards the women in the story because the story is about a girl waiting for her prince to wake her up with a kiss. In the Disney version of “Sleeping Beauty” it tells the story of a young princess who was cursed by an evil fairy that she will fall into a deep sleep and only true loves kiss can wake her. In her teen years she falls in love with a man but soon after she pricks her finger and goes into a deep sleep. When the man finds her, he kisses her and she wakes up and they live happily ever after. However there are many different storylines but they all have the same plot. The three stories we read in class displays a young girl that is under a sleeping spell and a man comes to wake her up. In the first story the king raped the girl that was asleep and was woken when giving birth. In the video we watched in class it said that the girl relies on the man and can’t do anything without him.
