1. The book, Divergent by Veronica Roth, left an impression on me because of its complex view of society. In Divergent the author creates a society to display how society looks like after a disaster strikes. This book made me think a lot about how society could change. I don't think it is possible to have a society like the one in Divergent, however I do believe that society could be impacted due to a disaster like war. The book also influenced the way I think about the future. Our world changes every single day and there are a lot of factors that cause this. Since Divergent is a movie about the future of the human race I constantly think about things that could cause that to happen to us. Even though war is the cause of society in Divergent, I believe there are many different things that could cause this like the government.

2.  I am a student that struggles with anxiety, however I do not let it hold me back. I am from a small town in Tennessee. I have been a lifeguard for two years and I recently was promoted to Lead Guard. Being a Lead Guard comes with a lot of responsibilities and has challenged my anxiety. I was always the quiet kid in the back and did not know how to react to certain situations. Having more responsibilities during the summer has made me feel more comfortable. Being a senior in high school makes me nervous for the future because I do not know what I will do. I like to have a step by step plan and I am very organized. Even though my anxiety tends for me to fall behind and live in the shadows, I have my moments where my personality really shines. I never know when this is going to happen. If I am really nervous or having a bad day I will keep to myself, but if i'm having a really good day I put myself out there in class more. I believe I am going to do big thing in life. Every day is a challenge but I manage to get through it and enjoy everything around me.

  1. I like Divergent, too. I haven't read the whole series, but I keep meaning to, so I have yet to know what will happen between Tris and Four...
I bet being a lifeguard this summer was an awesome job. It always seemed to me as the perfect job. If you every feel stressed in this class, please come talk to me! Reading and writing about literature is supposed to be fun, and I hope you get that out of this class!
